A gentle tool for conversations about anxiety

Anxiety can be hard to explain, especially when clients feel overwhelmed, disconnected from their body, or unable to find the right words.

Dear Anxiety was created to make those conversations easier. With 60 therapy and coaching cards, the deck gives clients gentle prompts to explore what is happening inside, from anxious thoughts to physical reactions and coping strategies.

It is a caring, practical tool for professionals who support people through anxiety, emotional overwhelm, stress, self-doubt, or moments when feelings are difficult to name.

Why Dear Anxiety is useful in professional practice

For many people, anxiety does not arrive as one clear thought or feeling. It can show up as racing thoughts, tension, avoidance, restlessness, pressure in the chest, or a sense of “something is wrong” without knowing why.

The three card categories support a structured yet gentle process:

Anxious Thoughts

Help people notice and name the thoughts that often sit beneath worry, fear, overthinking, or self-protection.

Body Reactions

Support people in recognizing how anxiety lives in the body, making physical signals easier to observe and discuss.

Coping Strategies

Offer prompts for reflection and practical ways to explore what may help in moments of anxiety or emotional stress.

For people who cannot yet express what they feel

For people who cannot yet express what they feel

Some people know they are anxious, but they cannot explain it. Others may feel blocked, ashamed, confused, or disconnected from their emotions.

Dear Anxiety gives them a starting point.

Instead of asking clients to explain everything from scratch, the cards offer simple prompts that make it easier to open up, reflect, and begin a conversation. This can be especially helpful in therapy, coaching, counseling, support groups, and mental well-being workshops.

The deck helps create a safe space where someone can say, “This feels familiar,” even before they have the full story.

For therapy and counseling

Use the cards to support clients in naming anxious thoughts, noticing body reactions, and exploring coping strategies.

For coaching and people-development work

Help clients reflect on stress, inner pressure, self-doubt, and emotional patterns that may affect their decisions and behavior.

For group and peer support

Create structured, respectful conversations where people can share experiences and learn from each other.

For personal reflection

Use the cards as a gentle self-help tool for journaling, mindfulness, emotional awareness, or grounding.
