How can you use the cards?

How can you use the cards?

  1. Image selection: The client selects a maximum of nine purpose cards. 
  2. Clustering: Ask your client: “Which cards go in a similar direction? What belongs together?” Let them move and group the cards.
  3. Genius formulations: Ask your client for a coherent two-word phrase. You may suggest: “Is it more along the lines of... or does it have to do with the fact that...”
  4. Comparison with the text at the back: Add the previously created two-word sentences on the back of the card for additional inspiration.

Further Work and Reflection

  1. Reduction:
    When 3–4 cards remain, ask: “How can you prioritize these cards or phrases based on personal significance?”
  2. Prioritization:
    If they struggle, prompt them to consider the values behind each card: “Can you rank these values in order of importance?”

Foster Reflection:

  1. Test Phase:
    Ask: “Does this resonate with you?”
  2. First-Person Formulation:
    Guide them to express their Genius as: “I (action reflecting their Genius)..., so that (benefit).”

I use the 'My Purpose' cards as part of my online coaching sessions focussing on professional reorientation. We use them to work out the client's WHY in order to incorporate this into their professional reorientation.

In contrast to the storytelling method that I have used in the past, the cards help you to reach your goal more quickly and playfully. I have the impression that both I as a coach and my clients find it easier to find and formulate the why or the essence. The combination of language with images is suitable for very different personality types. I have already achieved very good results with the cards.

The cards are accompanied by a small booklet with instructions on how to use the cards. I would have liked a more detailed description of how to work with the cards.

Overall, I can highly recommend the cards and will be happy to use them for further coaching sessions.
